Adoption Application Form

Thank you for your interest in Golden Rescue. The adoption application requests information about you and your family including contact information, information about your home, how you will care for the dog, and your experience with dogs. This information is kept strictly confidential and is used for the purpose of finding the right home for a particular Golden. Please note that the form is quite long, however, if you accidentally press the back button or any other link in your browser, the information will remain in the fields as long you don't close your browser. After the form has been completed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail, your application will be stored in our adoptee database, and our administrators will be notified. We will contact you, by email, to confirm your application within 48 hours of receipt.

When you register, the last adoption alert we sent will immediately be sent out to you. Please check your SPAM or JUNK email folder in case you don't receive it. If it it ends up in either of those, simply add us to your recognized senders list, or contact list to ensure you receive your alerts. Thanks!

NOTE: At the present time our Goldens are being fostered in Ontario and occasionally in Quebec. During the adoption process a home visit needs to be arranged with your family and you must agree to come and visit the dog at his/her foster home. If the match is a good one, you’ll need to arrange appropriate transportation to bring the dog home with you.

Adoption homes are selected on an individual basis to best meet the needs of the rescued Golden Retriever. A potential adopter's circumstances and preferences are taken into consideration in this selection process.
Some of our rescue dogs have been abandoned or unwanted and come to us with little or no history. In the best interest of all concerned, we feel it is prudent not to place them in a home with small children under 8 years-of-age.
A securely fenced yard or invisible fencing is required. Tying a dog to a post or clothesline and/or promising to always accompany the dog are not acceptable substitutes.
The average cost to put a Golden through our program from initial intake to adoption is almost $1,500 as many require neutering, inoculations, microchipping, and other veterinary care required to get them healthy. Golden Rescue and our veterinary supporters cover all of these expenses and our standard adoption fee of $400 helps offset some of these costs. In certain cases, this fee may be pro-rated for older or special needs Goldens.
The dog must not be left alone longer than eight hours at any given time.
