Foster Application Form
We appreciate your interest in our foster care program. Golden RescueTM is always looking for loving, caring people to foster our dogs and to assess them while they are waiting for their new forever homes. As some of our Goldens come to us with little or no history and often no training, a foster family cannot have children under 8 years of age. It is the foster family's responsibility to take the dog to one of the veterinarians involved with our program for any required veterinary appointments and to follow up with any treatment or recommendations. Golden Rescue assumes the financial responsibility for these visits.
A foster family needs to assess the dog(s) temperament, any behavioural problems and personality traits. It is helpful if you have had experience training a dog. You will need to see what the dog is like in different situations, i.e. with children, other pets, approached while eating, toys, etc.
A foster is often required to house, feed, train and care for a dog anywhere from a week to several months until a permanent home is found. Grooming may be required and arrangements can be made for a volunteer to assist. The foster may also be asked to care for a special needs dog that requires ongoing medical treatment.
