PLEASE CONSIDER BEING A  FOSTER HOME!

Fast and furiously, we continue to have Goldens coming into our care! We urgently need foster homes throughout Ontario, particularly during the Christmas season when many of our regular fosters are unavailable. Fostering a Golden and helping him/her through a transitional phase is an incredibly rewarding feeling because you’re the first step in their new life. If you are interested in fostering, please fill out a foster application online today. Once you’ve filled out an application, a volunteer will contact you to clarify any points, answer any questions you might have, and arrange a home visit. If we don’t have enough foster homes, we may have to turn away a Golden who needs us! Please help NOW! Click here to fill out a foster application!

Drivers (Transport)

  • urgent needs in the Montreal-Ottawa area & western and northern Ontario

Would you be willing to pick up and transfer our precious cargo? If so, please let us know your geographical boundaries, availability, and whether you have a crate if necessary. Please e-mail transport@golden-rescue.net.

Event Drivers/Set-Up Coordinators

We need several volunteers to set-up and tear-down our booth. Do you have a good driving record and are you comfortable driving a cube van? If so, we need drivers who can set-up and tear-down our booth at a few events per year. You must be able to unload our booth and merchandise. We’ll provide training and support. If you are interested or want more information, please email carin@golden-rescue.net.

Fundraising Coordinators

In our effort to encourage third-party fundraising, we need people to coordinate the efforts of volunteer fundraisers. Please e-mail anna@golden-rescue.net.

Garage/Truck Servicing Volunteer

In our network of volunteers, we’re hoping that there’s a mechanic or garage owner who would be willing to service our Golden Rescue truck. Please e-mail viive@golden-rescue.net.

Picnic Committee Members

Do you like Golden Retrievers and picnics??? Then we want you!!! We need a few dedicated volunteers to help us with our annual Golden Rescue Picnic. This year’s event will be the 20th Anniversary of the picnic and we want to make it a very special day for our rescue volunteers and their lovely Goldens. It will be a fun day packed with activities for all and it’s a great opportunity to meet new friends and renew old acquaintances. The date of the picnic is Saturday, September 22 and we will once again be at the beautiful location kindly provided by Maplelane Goldens in Alliston. Please contact Jane at jane@golden-rescue.net if you are interested in helping out.

Treasury

Do you have a financial background ~ bookkeeping or accounting? We need your help on our treasury team. We would like volunteers to provide relief for our team ~ from ensuring cash receipts are deposited and recorded on a timely basis to paying our vets who care for our Goldens, it is a very important task. If you’re interested in helping, please email treasurer@golden-rescue.net.

Volunteer Appreciation Coordinator

Volunteers are the heart of Golden Rescue.  They generously offer their time and expertise in many ways to help the Goldens who come to us for their second chance.  These volunteers deserve to be recognized for all they do, from answering the intake hotline and fostering, placement and transport of our Goldens, to fundraising, organizing, and volunteering at events, keeping our general store stocked, managing our balance sheet – and so much more!  A Volunteer Recognition Committee has been set up to explore ways to express our appreciation of our volunteers.  The committee has three confirmed members (with lots of ideas) and is looking for a team leader who can devote the time needed to develop this program.  If you are interested in this position, please contact Janice at volunteer@golden-rescue.net.

Volunteer Coordinators (2)

Volunteers are our greatest asset and in order to have a full complement of volunteers at all our events, we need one or two volunteer coordinators to support our existing team. Liaising with our events team, you will put out a call for volunteers using our opt-in only email broadcast system, arrange schedules, provide follow-up instructions, and supply guidelines and support to the volunteers for that particular event. Your role may also include calling new volunteers to see where they might fit into the GR family or assist with our volunteer recognition program. Please email karen@golden-rescue.net.

Volunteer Inquiry Coordinators (2)

The volunteer inquiry coordinator checks all webmail for incoming volunteer applications. You will be the first point of contact for volunteers with Golden Rescue so good knowledge of Golden Rescue is important (however we’ll be happy to supply all the training needed). It would be your role to respond promptly to a volunteer application and help guide the volunteer into a position that would suit them. Once they agree to a role, you will set them up on our email-based volunteer database. You will work with volunteer coordinators to make sure that applications and questions are answered in a timely manner. This would take approximately 5-7 hours a week on average and involves mainly emailing and telephoning. We need one volunteer to send out eblasts (with training) and it would be perfect if you were to have some HTML coding and graphics experience. Please email karen@golden-rescue.net if you have time you’d like to put into one of these rewarding and important front-line jobs.

Please consider volunteering your valuable time! Help us give deserving Goldens a second chance…
